Bangladesh PM Warns Student Followers Against Campus Unrest

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has warned her party's student members against instigating violence on college campuses.

Ms. Hasina said at a rally Wednesday that she has ordered law enforcement agencies to arrest any students seeking to cause unrest on campuses, regardless of their political affiliation.

Prior to Ms. Hasina's election in December, Bangladesh's army-backed interim government ended a state of emergency that had banned all political activities and demonstrations.The interim government assumed power in 2007 when the military intervened to end months of violence between supporters of Ms. Hasina's Awami League and the rival Bangladesh Nationalist Party. by voa
