A record number of 1,219,894 students passed this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations with 86.37 percent success rate, 4.21 percentage points higher than the last year.
Sylhet Education Board, with 91.78 percent pass rate, emerged as the most successful among all the ten education boards in the country.
Sylhet is followed by Technical Education Board with a pass rate of 88.69 percent, the Madrasah Education Board 88.47 percent, Rajshahi Education Board 88.36 percent, Dinajpur and Jessore 87.16 percent, Barisal 86.86 percent, Dhaka 85.95 percent, Comilla 85.64 percent and Chittagong Education Board 78.96 percent.
Of the total successful students, some of 82,215 achieved the distinction of securing the maximum GPA-5 (Grade Point Average).
Some 3,377 educational institutions achieved cent percent success in the exams this year, while none from 14 institutions could pass.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid handed over a copy of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban this (Monday) morning.
Chairmen of all the 10 education boards were present.
The Education Minister will formally announce the results at a press briefing at his ministry at about 1:00 pm today.
