Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) president Prof AQM Bodruddoza Chowdhury and eminent jurist and Gono Forum president Dr Kamal Hossain on Sunday said they want a election that must be held with the participation of the country’s 8.5 crore voters.
“We want a democratic country with the participation of the majority people of the country. To make that happen, a united movement will have to launched,” they said in a joint statement.
Nagarik Oikya Convener and former Awami League leader Mahmudur Rahman Manna read out the statement at a function at Radisson Hotel in the city.
Dr Kamal Hossain, Prof Bodruddoza Chowdhury, BDB Secretary General Maj (retd) Abdul Mannan and eminent journalist ABM Musa were, among others, present at the function.
They called upon the younger section of the country that wants to contribute to the country’s real democracy to get united for making the future days brighter and a democratic Bangladesh with prosperity and happiness in the truest sense.
“We, the people of the country are deeply concerned…country’s democracy is at stake today…democratic organs of the state are at stake,” Dr Kamal and B Chowdhury said in their statement.
They also said the country’s economy is under great threat following the debacle in the financial sector.
They urged all to work together to get rid of all the problems, and present the nation an advanced country.
